Quickboost is known for producing high quality, resin replacement parts for many model kits from most manufacturers. One of their newer offerings is a set of resin replacement propellers for Revell's B-17 Flying Fortress.

Revell's kit propellers are typical of what you'll normally find, four three-blade propellers molded in plastic. They look alright, but lack that extra level of detail resin molding can produce. Not to mention, the kit parts have a thin piece of flash running around the length of each blade, which will require some delicate clean up prior to assembly and painting.

Quickboost;s replacements pieces include four spinner hubs, and a dozen new propeller blades, as well as a small jig to ensure proper fit. There is a simple drawing to show how to prepare the jig, and how to properly use it for aligning and building the propellers.

Some simple drilling is required to get the jig ready. To make sure the new propellers will mount onto the kit, the modeler will either need to remove the mounting rod from the back of the kit propellers, and attach it to the Quickboost replacements, or use a separate piece of plastic rod for the fit. I choose the latter, since I was planning on painting one of the Revell propellers for a comparison.

The resin parts are provided with zero flash and the only clean up needed is to smooth out where you cut them off their pour stub. In the same amount of time it would take to clean up the kit propellers, you can easily assemble the replacement Quickboost ones.

The Quickboost replacements are a marked improvement over the kit provided ones. The hub of the spinner is slightly shorter than those in the kit, but I'm not sure which length is correct. I do know that the Quickboost propellers have much better detail.

These are highly recommended. The assembly and construction is simple and quick, and the resin held paint without any issues.

Thank you to Aires, Quickboost and IPMS/USA for supplying this review sample.
