If you are looking for a definitive account of the Battle of Britain, this is not it. If you are looking for inspirational paint schemes and the decals that go with those schemes, then this is your book.

Kagero has always released really nice books with interesting paint schemes and this one is no different. There are eight aircraft depicted, six Bf-109s, one He-111, and one Bf-110. Descriptions of each aircraft and its pilot accompany the three- and four-view full color profiles. The descriptions are written in English and Polish. Each description gives the color callouts and a little bit of history of each pilot who flew it. Particularly interesting is the He-111, which has tail and fuselage artwork. The 109s all show unique paint schemes with the description documenting the changes in the camouflage paint schemes. The profiles are first rate and really well done. They are definitely inspirational.

The thing that sets Kagero apart from other profile books is the inclusion of decals and not just decals, but Cartograf decals. Since they are Cartograf, they are in perfect register and thin, literally the best decals in the world. They are three different scales, 1/72nd, 1/48th, and 1/32nd. What more can you say about these decals?

If there was a down side, I'd say I'd like to see a photo of each aircraft. Does this detract from the book? Not for me. These are really nice books and, with the inclusion of the decals in three scales, I consider it a bargain. There is a listing at the front of the book that contains the references to allow you to see what the aircraft look like, but this requires you to have those books.

Modelers should take note of this series of books. I really enjoyed the book and the decals. I'm sure you'll be seeing some of these aircraft done by me in the future.

Highly recommended

Thanks to Kagero and IPMS/USA for the review copy.
