This Eduard Brassin set is for the Eduard Fw 190A-5 kit. The set includes detail parts to add to a highly detailed kit. The resin and photoetch parts inside the box looked great and very well molded and etched.

In the box is:

  • 28 x resin parts in two shades of grey
  • 2 x photoetch sheet
  • 1 instruction booklet

All the resin parts are very well detailed, and are extremely well molded.

The assembly instructions are very clear and detailed.

Stage 1 through 6 is the fuselage gun bay structure, ammo boxes, and engine mounting structure. This all went together very well with no problems on fix or location.

Stages 7 through to 16 are the main engine assembly. This again is a very easy build. I painted the assembly at each stage, as there are so many parts and little access as it builds up. The only words of warning I have at this stage is to ensure you keep the parts well clean of excess resin when you remove them, as this can build up, and the engine will be too big to install. This is true of the part R40. Also the install and orientation of R24 should be checked to ensure its correct.

You will be required to modify the fuselage and lower wings from the Eduard kit to allow for the install of the new parts.

Stages 17 and 18 mount the fuselage gun bays and engine into the fuselage halves. I suggest that you install the gun bay then join the fuselage. Next install the engine. This is not as is shown, but I found it far easier to do it this way.

The last stages are 19 through to 23. This adds the engine cover panels, latches, and final details. This was all very simple and straight forward.

Summary

This was a great upgrade to a very good kit and the engine looks fantastic in this kit.

Thanks go to Eduard for providing this kit to review and IPMS USA for allowing me to review it for them.
