Kevin Harvick became a household name in 2001, when he was selected to replace the late Dale Earnhardt after the legend's fatal accident in the Daytona 500. He currently has 35 Monster Cup and 46 Xfinity Series victories, and has been piloting cars for Stewart-Haas Racing since 2014. This model kit, provided for review by Revell, is of Kevin's current "Freaky Fast" 2017 Ford Fusion stock car.

This kit is Skill Level 5, and is molded in white plastic with black vinyl tires and clear parts, which have pre-painted black frames. The kit includes water slide decals, which are excellent and very forgiving to use.

Inside the box, you will find two bags of white plastic parts, a bag which contains the body shell, chassis, tires, and metal axle pins, and a forth bag with the clear parts. The instructions and decal sheet round out the contents.

Construction of the car begins with building the engine/transmission, and it's 18 parts assemble into a well-detailed throttle-body-injected modern NASCAR powertrain. I really like the look of the engine, and detail painting makes it look fantastic.

The next assembly is the car's chassis and suspension. Like the engine, the parts are well detailed and the parts look scale accurate (not thick or chunky like some earlier stock car kits). The parts fit is fantastic, and detail painting makes everything look accurate to the actual car.

While a stock car's interior is spartan, the kit's components are well done and the fit is great. A seated driver figure is included (along with decals for Kevin), and looks good. His hands hold the steering wheel, and his feet match up to the pedals on the firewall.

The roll cage looks complex, but has positive location points and great parts fit. Be sure to take your time test fitting to ensure that the angles and glue points are correct, as each piece will affect the fit of following parts.

The Ford Fusion body looks fantastic, and requires minimal cleaning up. The pre-painted frames on the clear parts look good, and takes the stress out of masking an painting them, which will help newer builders. The clear parts fit into the body without any issues, and I used Testors Clear Parts Cement for installation.

The kit's decals fit well, are thin, and are in register. They work well with setting solvents when getting them to lay over some of the body's curves. Unfortunately, the decals do not include striping to separate the black and white paint scheme, so it's up to the builder to carefully mask and paint the body. Also, the decals do not include any Goodyear logos for the fenders or tire sidewalls, so you my wish to get them from an aftermarket source, which I chose to do. Overall, I found the Jimmy John's Fusion to be an outstanding kit, with fantastic parts fitment and details. I would highly recommend this kit to anyone, especially racing fans.

I would like to thank Revell for giving us the opportunity to build and review this kit, and I look forward to their future NASCAR releases.
