Pro Art Models released this upgrade set after the arrival of the Trumpeter LMTV (01004). With the kit's overall sparseness in the cabin area, this is just the ticket. The box art shows the tires also but these are not included in the kit. You will need Pro Art's 35030 (5 wheels) or 35037 (7 wheels).

This set contains approximately 67 cream-colored resin parts, 50 PE parts, and a three page instruction manual. The resin is beautifully cast and bubble-free. The photo-etched parts have nice pre-grooved parts and feels quite strong, not like some of the PE I have used recently.

The instruction sheet is not numbered but easily followed. Kit parts replaced by this set are some minor chassis and undercarriage items, suspension, and brake assemblies. The majority of this kit is the complete replacements of the inner and outer cab. A new exhaust and some spare tire items are also included. Of special note is the ratchet strap used to secure the spare tire. This set is also available as 35038, which allows you to build 14 of these.

Gilbert Honanie reviewed the Trumpeter M1078 kit several years ago. He did a great job and with his permission, I have included several pictures of his build and the Pro Art Conversion set. Had he had this set to deck out his LMTV, it would have been a heck of a show stopper! The job he did on his build would only have been exponentially increased by the use of this aftermarket set.

To my knowledge, there are no other conversion sets for the M1078. Pro Art has an interior only set (35033) for a reduced price. That set only includes a fraction of this set. Pro Art has done a bang-up job on making this a really super set. I would like to thank Dirk Vangeel of Pro Art Models for providing me with this excellent sample, Pro Art Models for making some really neat "non-standard" aftermarket products, and IPMS for posting this review for others to see and read. Have fun: Build a M1078 LMTV or the FMTV (when it arrives)!
