The folks at Quickboost continue to add superb detail sets to their growing catalog of items. For this review I will be looking at the exhaust detail set for the 1/72 Hasegawa G8N1 Renzan.

The Hasegawa 1/72 G8N1 Renzan has been on the market for many years, in several different boxings. The molds for each issue of the kit are the same, so this exhaust upgrade set will work with any of the G8N1 kits you may have in your collection.

The Japanese WWII G8N1 Renzan Bomber was a late war Japanese WWII found-engine Bomber project. The initial prototype was completed late in 1944, and several test flights were made before the war ended. Perhaps the most recognized image of a Renzan is the photo in orange paint scheme in captured US Markings.

The Quickboost exhaust stacks themselves are finely molded, and are very easily removed from the casting block. I find that using a razor saw is the easiest method, and after a little sanding, these great detail parts are ready to glue in place.

As you can see from the photo, the detail is far above the kit part that these replace. (Note that the US Postal Service did a little damage to my review sample - the very thin resin around the end of the exhaust stack was damaged in transit.) The original kit part is pretty much a green blob with little detail. These Quickboost parts are far superior.

The exhaust well is deeper and more defined on the Quickboost replacement parts than the original kit part.

Having used these detail sets in the past, I can say that these will virtually "fall into place", and there is no surgery required. They are designed to fit the kit perfectly. Simply paint each part, add a little wash/weathering, and fit the parts into place on the fuselage. I cannot think of an easier upgrade to a kit! Quickboost Exhaust detail sets add more life to the model, and a higher level of realism with very convincing results.

I highly recommend these sets to anyone wishing to add a little more detail to their old Hasegawa kit.

Thank you to Aires & Quickboost for providing the review samples!
