IPMS/USA again thanks Eduard for supporting the IPMS USA reviewer corps with one more of many monthly releases, in this case a new PE instrument panel for Revell's 1/32 FW-190A8/R11 NachtJager.

If you have never used these panels, I recommend you try them and become hooked like me. I cannot paint to this level of detail. The kit provides impressive instrument panel and bezel detail, and the lower cockpit side panels can be painted for a realistic look; but they will never have the fine details and legible numbers, placards, and detail work exhibited by Eduard PE sets.

In this scale the overall colors and additions add so much to the panel areas that it truly impresses even the jaded flashlight and mirror contest lovers out there.

Preparation work was minimal; use a micro chisel and flat sandpaper to remove the panel detail first. Then assemble and install the PE parts. A bit of minor folding is required for some of the boxes and levers, but only takes a few minutes. I had everything together in about an hour.

The panels were simple to assemble, as it is the standard Eduard sandwich with panel bezels on the front part, and the instrument dials on the back. In this scale, even I was able to get the rudder pedals into place. The side panels with the throttle and radio work also fit perfectly. I had a bit of difficulty getting the canopy crank wheel in place and not knocking it off. I recommend you wait until everything is in place before installation.

Detail is phenomenal, and really brings out the complexity of the cockpit even in these old aircraft... well worth it!

I did this work while on the road in Dayton in my ASAA convention, and it did not interfere with painting at night; hence the workbench (folding table) photographs.

Thanks again to Eduard for the fantastic review item, and John and Phil for the build review opportunity!
