Casemate Publishers, distributors for Kagero Publications, has added another title to their ongoing series of Super Drawings in 3D. This time they turn their attention to the Russian Destroyer Spravedlivvy. Built in 1956, the ship was part of a class of Soviet destroyers that are not well known in the west. By no means an iconic ship, given that Kagero is based in Poland, this ship was turned over to the Polish navy in 1970 where it took the name Warszawa (Warsaw). When it went into service with the Polish navy, the ship had been modified to carry missiles. The book looks at its original configuration, as the ship was commissioned, rather than in its modified form.

As with other titles in this series, the book begins with a short overview of the ship's history and design. The text is broken into sections with an emphasis on its armament (guns and missiles). While it mentions missiles, the artwork concentrates on its original configuration in 1956. The balance of the book is devoted to a series of 3D illustrations that cover the ship from stem to stern from a variety of angles. There are close up illustrations of its weapons, sensors, boats, and other equipment. The illustrations are beautifully rendered and very clear. As an extra to the book, it includes a nice scale drawing of the ship in its original configuration.

I enjoy these publications. The time and effort the authors put into rendering this ship into a 3D model is both captivating and interesting to read. Given that this ship played an important role in the Polish Navy, it is understandable that the authors chose this. The only weakness that I see in this book is that the artwork does not includes renderings of its modifications once air-to-air missiles were added.

My thanks to IPMS and Casemate Publications for giving me the opportunity to review this book.
