Plusmodel has recently released some interesting 1/35th scale diorama accessories. The Fordson N-big Tractor is another one of them. It is an entire kit and has to be one of the best if not the best resin kit I have built. The parts were flawlessly cast with little to no flash. The fit was exceptional.

From the instruction sheet: Fordson tractors were produced in Cork, Ireland. The first of them, Fordson N-Big left the plant in 1927. In 1933 the production was transferred to Dagenham in England and this factory produced 136,000 units so the type became the most common tractor in the U.K. during WWII. It was powered by a 4-cylinder diesel or petrol engine, both of 4.4 L (267 ci) with app. 25 HP power.

The tractor arrived in a sturdy cardboard container and wrapped in heat sealed plastic and bubble wrap. There was no damage to any of the parts. Parts consisted of metal etch, various sizes of wire and resin. Also included was a decal sheet to build three different versions.

Reading the instruction sheet before assembly helps a lot. There are a lot of fiddly parts and some wire bending. There is some cleanup required on the resin parts but nothing that a little carving and a sanding stick won't handle.

I washed all the resin parts in some dish soap and water to remove any dust and oils left behind.

I followed the instructions as suggested, but I left the fuel tank, radiator and the main wheel hubs off until final painting. The instructions are quite adequate and provide detailed information on the assembly and painting. I used ACC for all gluing.

I used Model Masters and Floquil paint to decorate the tractor. I sprayed a gloss coat on for decaling after the base coat had cured. Decaling went without a hitch. Weathering was completed using washed and pastels. A final coat of flat sealed and finished the model.

Thank you to plusmodel and IPMS, USA for providing me the opportunity to review this outstanding kit and to let the modeling community know it's out there. Highly recommended and I suggest having at least some intermediate experience working with resin for this project.

Have fun and enjoy.
