This release is part of an extremely popular series of models that goes under the Revell California Wheels collection that's been out for quite a while now. This particular Cadillac is actually the Eldorado Seville, of which only 975 cars were ever produced by the factory.
It most certainly has it's influence with our fascination for space and the jet age that came into vogue back in the 1950's. It has a 390 Cubic Inch engine with three 2 bbl. carburetors sitting atop it; dual exhaust is included as well. Its tires are whitewalls that pop into place on the rest of the tire, much like most created for the model industry these days. Everything is molded in white, which I prefer. The kit is extremely detailed with 154 pieces! All of them are provided to build the factory stock version only. Custom parts are non existent for this offering, but the details and workmanship put into this kit is incredible. I had to do some research on this one to get it right with the colors for the engine and other mechanical parts involved in this Caddy. Since I'd never built a Cadillac before, I decided to go with a color I'd never used before; Watermelon Pink by Krylon. I added the white interior to give it that luxurious look and feel.
The decal sheet had some silver stripes for a mild custom look as well as a set of Cadillac vanity plates in black (which as you can see, I used), and a set of Florida 50's era plates. This was a superbly detailed kit that was challenging and fun to build. The final assembly was tight and had me quite perplexed for a while but I removed a couple engine pieces and installed them after the body fit over the chassis. This model with all it's pieces was very tough for myself on final assembly but it all worked out.
Overall I would most certainly recommend this kit for a vintage car enthusiast of luxury cars and automotive icons of the 50's and 60's.
My extreme thanks to the folks at IPMS and most certainly Revell - Monogram for giving me the opportunity to build and review their version of an unbelievably rare automobile. Thank You Again to all involved.
