The Bf-109G-6 was the most produced variant of the iconic German fighter and as such the paint schemes on it were varied and could get quite interesting. That is where this sheet comes in.

Eagle Editions is known for its Luftwaffe releases and Jerry Crandall is world renowned for his expertise on the Luftwaffe. So it is with that information that I am always eager for each new release. This decal sheet does not disappoint. The Bf-109 is my favorite aircraft and a popular modeling subject. With the release of the Eduard and Zvezda kits recently and even more recently the Tamiya one there is no lack of plastic to add these decals to.

Inside the ziplock baggie you'll find a set of instructions printed in full color with four aircraft. The profiles are very good with nice half tones and will prove very useful for painting. The instructions are 11x16 sheet with printing on both sides. The cover shows the aircraft included. Upon unfolding the instructions there are larger views of the aircraft with some painting details and the decal numbers for the individual aircraft. Open it up even further, the written description of the markings and paint scheme is included for the four aircraft. On the facing page is the stencil page which shows you were all the little stencils go. Then on the back cover page are the plan views of the top and bottom of the wings.

The decals are printed by Cartograf on a single decal sheet. They are crisp, in perfect register, thin and opaque. There are stencils for one aircraft included. The swastikas are broken down into two parts to allow it to be shipped overseas without issue. All the aircraft feature fuselage crosses with black centers. All the aircraft are from Jerry's extensive collection. Can this mean that he is working on a book to show us these aircraft? Let's hope so. Onto the subject aircraft.

The subject aircraft are "Yellow 6" of 12./JG 51 in 1944. This aircraft sports a winter camouflage over it's 74/75 paint scheme with heavy white retouching in the vicinity of the aircraft number. Interestingly is the oversprayed lower yellow cowling, while the tail, fuselage band and spinner are untouched.

"Red (or Black) 11" from 2.JG 302 from 1944 is the next aircraft. It is quite colorful with the red number surrounded by yellow. It also has the large RVD yellow fuselage band and the JG 302 emblem on the nose.

"Blue 14" from 12./JG 2 is a pretty plain Jane G-6. The unique shape of the number is interesting as is the black painted wing root area with a white outline. EagleCals provides this white outline so care will have to be used when painting the black.

JG 54 and it's medium blue RFD band grabs your attention. "Black 1" served with 8./JG 54 in 1944. It carries the Staffel emblem on the left side cowling, along with the yellow rudder and lower cowling makes this a colorful subject.

World class research accompanied by beautiful artwork and world class decal printing makes this a winner. Whether you have the UM, ICM, Hasegawa, Eduard, Zvezda or Tamiya kit you'll have a really colorful addition with any of these aircraft. Another great release from Eagle Editions. I reviewed the 1/48th scale set but these decals are also available in 1/72nd and 1/32nd scale.

Highly recommended
