Talk about a modeler's reference. This slim, 40-page volume consists of little more than profiles of vehicles used on the Eastern Front during World War 2. What writing there is (in both Polish and English) is used mainly to provide a little information on the vehicles shown. A decal sheet - not surprisingly heavy on the Polish markings - is also included to make it easier to duplicate a number of the vehicles shown.

For the modeler, this is a straight-forward, no-nonsense guide to equipment of all the major belligerents involved in this particular historic unpleasantness. The profiles are quite well done and offer a range of subjects and markings. Both Germans and Soviets are adequately covered, and there are even a few lend-lease pieces on the Soviet side.

Although this is by no means a comprehensive study of the equipment and markings from this campaign, this simple book does an excellent job of covering most aspects for the novice historian in such a way that some really interesting pieces can be modeled in 1/35th scale. The small included decal sheet, unfortunately, does not reproduce some of the more off-beat profiles shown, but is certainly adequate and quite welcome.

Frankly, there isn't a heck of a lot more one can add about this book. It does its job with efficiency, and is really an excellent reference for the weekend modeler looking for something to make. I know there are at least a couple of good ideas I've gotten from perusing this manual and look forward to the chance to apply brush to plastic. For the money, you really can't find a more useful document (and decal sheet) for general Eastern Front armor modeling. Highly recommended.

As always, my tanks to Casemate Publishers for importing this excellent little volume, and to IPMS/USA for a chance to add it to my own reference library. Happy modeling, everyone, and keep safe!
