This set comes in an extremely large box considering the size of the completed conversion but it takes a lot of room to hold what is in the set. There are four clear bags worth three containing resin and one containing photo-etch, instrument decals and clear sheet for instruments. The photo etch has a standard brass sheet and a second sheet that is full color photo etch. Next in the box is a lengthy full color instruction sheet containing twelve pages that clearly describe what kit parts to modify and where the update set parts go.

The first step is to trim all the resin and clean the parts in simple green or something to remove any contaminants. Take your time trimming since some areas are thin and you may break through a part like I did on the seat pan. The instructions are very clear on locating all the parts and there are a couple items that are not used. Some areas there are options for a few versions of the aircraft which one is on the canopy. One is the early canopy that is the traditional style and the other option, the "Erla" canopy which the Tamiya kit (61117) does not provide. Hopefully, that style canopy which has greater visibility becomes available in later Tamiya releases or in a future "Brassin" update set. There are two choices of armored headrest styles, padded and one with a window portion. When bending the photo etch, note the instructions for bend direction since some of the bend lines will have you bend in the wrong direction.

Other optional areas are the type of gun sight style and each of these versions has very fine photo-etch parts. Thankfully Eduard provided a few spare parts since they are easy to lose on your workbench. There are two different instrument panels to choose from. One is basic resin where you can "punch" out the instrument faces and the other, resin backing with color photo-etch panel and instrument dial faces.

Side consoles are loaded with plenty of details with the trim wheel containing five PE parts, wheels, sprockets with chain and bracket. Numerous PE placards and control handles round out the interior portions. He rudder pedals are very intricate and contain only three parts each but have multiple bends. All the rudder components and linkages are faithfully replicated. Rounding out the PE are seat belts which are fairly simple and conform nicely into the seat bucket and seat back.

One area of interest in the illustrations for the cockpit tub is two views show a back deck, right behind the seat. That is not in the resin part and not shown in any other illustration. This is not a problem but just a curiosity that made me look in my trash can for that area thinking I cut that part off.

Final notes, this is an exceptional cockpit set that is very crisp and easy to build. Superb instructions with options and color references that will make your Bf109 G-6 stand out. I highly recommend this set and I really hope a late model canopy option will be available soon.

I would like to thank Eduard for this review sample.
