I previously reviewed Amigo's 1/72 resin exhaust set for the Mig-21bis and this set is almost identical. Like the previous kit, it comprises five detailed resin parts for the exhaust. The centerpiece of the assembly and the flame holder for the afterburner are slightly different than the corresponding pieces in the R25-300 engine set. All of them are highly detail, both on the inside of the exhaust as well as the exterior.  Although the pieces are not numbered, you can identify them by the life-sized drawings on the instructions.

My razor saw made short work of removing the mold bases from the kit parts. Two of the pieces have interior cones attached to the bases, but these are not part of the exhaust. I believe they help in the molding process.

The five pieces essentially form a tube so construction proceeds quickly. Make sure the mating surface are square to each other to avoid a "leaning tower of exhaust." Just couldn't resist. I followed the same painting sequence I did on the previous exhaust set: primer, then different shades of Alclad II metallic paint, a dark wash, and dry brushing. The finished model looks very convincing.

The only kit I have of the Mig-21F-13 is the excellent Revell of Germany offering released fourteen years ago. The finished Amigo exhaust is slightly larger than the kit counterpart, so I had to shave and sand the inner fuselage to get a reasonable fit (See the last photo in the sequence). Once the fuselage halves are put together, you won't see much of this exhaust. Just like the Mig-21bis set, to see all this wonderful detail, you will have to display this little model separately or open panels on the fuselage. Viewing the exhaust is made even more difficult because the entire assembly is recessed about 5mm into the aft fuselage and the only thing you can see is the back of the exhaust nozzle.

I'll add my thanks to Amigo Models for supplying this kit for review.
