Scale Aircraft Conversion provides an excellent landing gear conversion upgrade for the 1/32 Dragon P-51D Mustang. The conversion kit consists of 12 very nicely cast white metal main gear, doors, wheel/tire combination, hydraulic lines, and tail wheel assembly. The set also contains a very basic assembly diagram. All of the parts are very well cast and appear to be accurate. The white metal hydraulic lines may be difficult to clean up and attach to the main gear.

I didn't have access to the Dragon kit to compare, but would assume that they are a retro fit of the Dragon kit parts with some minor accuracy corrections. In my opinion, this conversion would be the way to go, not only for the obvious strength issue, but also I think the wheel/tires look really nice. Also, you can polish the oleo portion of the strut. Casting clean-up was straightforward and easily accomplished with needle files and fine steel wool or a soft wire brush. I would recommend a light coat of primer to promote better paint adhesion and to check for any imperfections. This is my first experience with Scale Aircraft Conversions, so my opinion may be a bit limited but I would definitely give them high marks for their product. Many thanks to Scale Aircraft Conversion and IPMS/USA for the opportunity to review this product.
